Frequently Asked Questions
What is INDY?
INDY stands for I'm Not Done Yet. We’re a community and consultancy that helps people aged 50–70 navigate the next chapter of life, staying relevant, purposeful, and connected. We support both individuals and employers who want to make the most of this vital life stage.
Who is INDY for?
INDY is for two main groups:
Individuals in their 50s, 60s or early 70s who are rethinking what work, purpose or retirement looks like.
Organisations who want to engage, support and retain experienced team members, or help them transition well.
What do you mean by ‘soft retirement’?
Soft retirement is the space between full-time work and full-time leisure. It's a gradual, flexible shift, whether you want to work differently, earn less intensively, volunteer, start something new, or focus more on wellbeing and legacy.
Is INDY a support group or a business service?
Both. INDY offers peer support and networking for individuals and practical solutions for businesses like workshops, age-positive culture audits, midlife career conversations, and group sessions to help staff plan their next stage.
What do individuals get from joining INDY?
You’ll get regular online sessions, tools to plan your next chapter, themed conversations, peer support and plenty of ideas from side hustles to soft landings. You can participate as much or as little as you like.
How does INDY help organisations?
We offer services like:
Midlife planning sessions
Workshops on purpose and longevity
Career transition support
Age-inclusion advice
One-to-one coaching or group programmes
We help employers make the most of experienced staff and show older employees they’re valued and supported.
Can organisations access INDY members as a talent pool?
Yes. Many INDYs are open to short-term work, consultancy, mentoring, non-exec roles or flexible contributions. If you're looking for mature talent with real-life experience, we can connect you with skilled individuals who are ready for their next meaningful project.
What does it cost to join or work with INDY?
There’s a free community space for individuals, plus affordable upgrade options. For employers, we offer packages tailored to your needs, whether that’s a one-off session or a longer programme.
I’m still working full-time. Is INDY right for me?
Yes. Many INDYs are still in work, some planning ahead, some considering change. We help you stay in control of your future, whether you're stepping up, stepping sideways or stepping back.
Can INDY help someone who feels lost or stuck?
Absolutely. But it’s not just for that. INDY is for anyone asking, What’s next for me? You might want to shift gear, start a project, mentor others, or just live with more energy and ease.
How do I or my company get started?
Individuals can join our online space at any time, visit our website and request an invite.
Organisations can contact us directly to arrange a discovery call. We’ll listen to what you need and suggest a simple, effective way to support your people.
Is INDY only online?
Most of our activities are online, but we also offer in-person workshops and tailored support for organisations.
I’m not confident with tech. Will I manage?
Yes. We keep things simple and supportive. If you're unsure, we’ll help you get set up, many of our members have felt the same.
Can I contribute something to INDY?
Definitely. INDY is a peer-driven space. Whether you’re sharing your story, offering ideas, or mentoring others, we welcome your input. Organisations can also partner with us to shape and share age-positive practice.
Is this about challenging ageism?
Yes, but in a practical, positive way. We want later life to be full of opportunities, not assumptions. INDY helps people stay visible, valuable and well-supported and helps employers do the same for their teams.
